Takeaway closes after delivery driver drinks in same pub as man with Covid-19

Bosses at an Indian takeaway have made the 'sad' decision to close after one of their delivery drivers drank in the same pub as man who tested positive for coronavirus.

Saagar is the second hospitality venue in Burnham-on-Sea forced to close on Monday (July 6) following a man, who was drinking on 'Super Saturday' at the Lighthouse Kitchen and Carvery, being diagnosed with the deadly virus.

Unlike the pub, which only reopened on July 4 after being closed for more than three months, the takeaway had been serving meals throughout lockdown.

A spokesperson posted on Saagar's Facebook page: "It saddens me to tell you all that due to unforeseen circumstances, we are closing Saagar indian takeaway up until Friday.

"This is due to because one of the driver has been In the same pub as the person who has tested positive to Covid-19.

This decision was not made easily, however during these tough times everybody’s health is the number one priority.

"During this period we will be deep cleaning the whole building to ensure when it is reopened we will be ready to go.

"We look forward to seeing you all again very soon."
