Take That surprise super fan at birthday bash in Newcastle

Take That surprised a super-fan at her 50th birthday garden party with a 50-minute set.

Healthcare boss Ian Watson hired the iconic pop group to perform at his wife Claire’s birthday bash in a surprise gesture which reportedly cost him £500,000.

According to the Mirror, guests were left shell-shocked after Gary Barlow, Mark Owen and Howard Donald made a surprise appearance at the intimate gathering in Newcastle, launching straight into a lively performance of Shine.

Watson is believed to have kept the news under wraps from the 160 party guests in attendance.

Mrs Watson told the publication: “At the end of the meal Ian stood up and said, ‘We have a bit of a surprise.

"The curtains at the back of the marquee opened and there was Take That and they launched straight into Shine.”

She added: “They could've played two or three songs and we'd have been happy, but they did a 50-minute set with a full light show.

“I got to spend some time with them before they went on stage. They were every bit as pleasant as they appear when they're on TV.

“The band told us it's the smallest gig they've done.”

Robbie Williams joins Take That on stage at charity event

The performance comes after the group vowed to reunite for an official Take That reunion.

Former bandmate Robbie Williams previously told how he is “sure” they will perform together on the Take That 30th anniversary tour.

Speaking at the Evening Standard’s AIDSfree Christmas appeal gala, the Angels singer told Magic Radio: As long as we stay healthy, I’m sure there’ll be another moment where we all get together. Maybe we can coax Jason back, who knows?

“We shall have to see. But definitely, definitely in the future. We will all ride again. Next year when the boys are on tour, I’m on tour too.”
