Take That superfans saved by Gary Barlow when bus 'breaks down' on way to concert

Take That superfans Julie Saxton and Amanda had the Greatest Day when the band came to their rescue when the bus they were travelling in appeared to break down.

The best friends from Altrincham, both 39, were in for a shock of a lifetime when they met their idols in unexpected circumstances.

It was no ordinary meet and greet when Patience hitmaker Gary Barlow personally chauffeured them to Take That 's Greatest Hits Tour after their bus came to a halt just outside Sheffield, and the girls feared they may not get to see the band perform, breaking their run of going to every tour since the band started.

But they got the shock of their lives when Gary, Howard Donald and Mark Owen, turned up with a fleet of Suzuki cars to rescue them – and Gary drove the overwhelmed duo to the gig as they played a Take That 'pun-off' in the car.

The pals, from Altrincham, had only been told they would be featuring in a pre-show video all about their love of the band – and had no idea they would get to meet their heroes.

The drama will screened as part of a new advert for Suzuki to be screened this Saturday during The British Soap Awards on ITV with Julie and Amanda as the stars.

The pair have been lifelong Take That fans, having attended their first gig in the early 90s.

Because they both turn 40 this year Julie requested tickets to all UK shows for the Greatest Hits tour. She will have attended 10 Take That concerts just this year.

Amanda even had a life-sized cut-out of Gary at her hen do and her husband is also called Gary.

Julie said: “It was just absolutely amazing. Gary is such a down to earth guy. We were just chatting away like we’ve been friends for years.

"He’s so personable and just helped us feel relaxed – and the pun-off made my day . I couldn’t have wished for a better 40 birthday present!”

Amanda said: “It’s so hard to even put into words. When people ask me to tell the story, I feel like it didn’t even happen, that it was all just a dream!

"To be part of something so special, we feel so lucky and blessed to be chosen.

"We never thought we’d ever meet our heroes, and for them to be as lovely as you always imagined was just truly unbelievable."
