Take That star revealed as Zip on The Masked Dancer and fans went wild

He's kept us guessing for days and the identity of Zip was finally revealed during the final of The Masked Dancer.

The disco dancing Zip was unmasked a member of Take That after fans of the ITV guessing game and the star panel believed that he could be two members of the Manchester man band.

They said Zip, who came in third place, could either be Howard Donald or his former bandmate Jason Orange, who left the band in 2014.

And the praise came pouring in as the purple-haired character was revealed to be Howard, 53, who is still going strong with Take That as a trio with Gary Barlow and Mark Owen after the band was formed in 1990.

Fans went wild as the singer, dancer and DJ from Higher Openshaw enjoyed a final boogie without the mask on.

"Well done Howard, we know those moves anywhere. You did so well!" tweeted one fan.

"Well done @HowardDonald you have brightened up my whole week which started with me screaming 'it’s Howard' at the screen last weekend," said another.

"I KNEW IT WAS YOU FROM DAY ONE!!! My mum and I knew that body and those moves was our Howard Donald!!!" another fan screamed.

"You’ve done us Thatters proud Mr Donald!!!

And another said: "Oh my word..... I need cooling down. Watching #TheMaskedDancer Howard Donald's dancing is amazing."

Another impressed viewer tweeted: "Howard Donald is 53. Do you know ANY 53 yr-olds who can DO that?"

"Howard Donald. I’d like to think I could do moves like that when I’m in my 50’s but I can’t even do them now!" another commented.

Asked why he decided to take on the challenge he said after his unmasking: "Just the challenge in itself! It felt like nothing I’ve done before.

"I’m sure like everyone else as well it was good to get my fitness back and help with lockdown boredom."

And he said dancing appealed to him more than singing.

"Dancing has always been my thing and singing comes second," said the Never Forgt hitmaker.

Father-of-four Howard said his children Lola, Grace, Bowie and Dougie Bear had no idea he was doing the show.

And he joked that his stab at disguising his northern accent when speaking on the show was 'terrible.'
