Take That concert attack woman avoids jail after assaulting mum and daughter

A woman has been spared jail after an unprovoked attack on a mother and daughter during a Take That concert.

Tracey Robinson, from Co Down , committed the offence at a gig in Dublin’s 3Arena on April 29.

The 33-year-old pleaded guilty to two counts of common assault and two public order charges.

Dublin District Court heard she had been intoxicated and irate and following arrest she was held at a city centre Garda station.

At her court appearance the following day she pleaded guilty and was released on bail.

Garda Seamus Donoghue said the accused had struck a woman from behind, hitting her over the head with a half-full plastic bottle. The victim was in her 50s.

The court was told the woman’s adult daughter turned round to see what happened and had her hair pulled by Robinson.

The defendant, who had no previous convictions, was found suitable for a restorative justice programme and returned to court yesterday.

She brought €930 in compensation for the victims. The mother was to receive €500 plus €90, the cost of her concert ticket, while her daughter was to get €250 and the price of attending.

A report was provided to the court and Judge Smyth noted a reference in it to charitable donation.

He added Robinson, of Beechfield Drive, Donaghadee, had complied with the restorative justice scheme.

Defence counsel asked the judge to note his client had travelled back from Northern Ireland and had brought compensation.

Judge Smyth said in the circumstances he would apply the Probation of Offenders Act.
