Take our Big Sunderland Survey and tell us what Black Cats must do now

Sunderland fans are getting used to disappointment - but it doesn't make the pain any easier.

The Black Cats are licking their wounds following their play-off semi-final defeat to Lincoln City and now face up to the reality of another season in League One.

Plans for next term are already under way, with recruitment crucial for Lee Johnson and Co.

The lifting of the salary cap at least gives Sunderland some freedom, but the head coach is not expecting a huge transfer budget, despite Kyril Lous-Dreyfus' takeover.

Many players' contracts are also up - including the likes of Charlie Wyke, Aiden McGeady, Denver Hume and Luke O'Nien, with the future of many in the squad uncertain.

So after a rollercoaster season, where Sunderland went from well off the promotion pace to within a whisker of the automatic places, only to lose out in the play-offs, we want to know what you made of it all.

If blame is to be a apportioned, then who are the culprits and why did the wheels fall off?

Looking ahead, who must stay, who must go and how many players do Sunderland need to sign in what will be a crucial transfer window?

Take our Big Sunderland Survey above and get it all off your chest.

We'll collate the responses and publish the results in the coming weeks.

We want to hear your additional thoughts on the season, so log in and leave your comment below
