Take on one of the biggest obstacle courses in the UK with your dog

Pet owners can take on the challenge of a 2.5k or 5k obstacle course with their dog right by their side next month.

The Muddy Dog Challenge is described as a day of mud, sweat and cheers and can be tackled with friends and family as part of a team or as solo competitors.

Whether you’re a fitness fanatic or just looking for a fun day out, keen to run, or would rather stroll, the challenge encourages humans and their four legged friends to take part and raise money to help care for the dogs and cats at Battersea.

Hayley Chow, a spokesperson for the charity, explained: "The Muddy Dog Challenge is one of the UK's biggest obstacle courses that you can take part in with your dog.

"Participants will be met with various obstacles throughout, including ball pools, mud tunnels and more water. Some of these obstacles are for both humans and dogs to tackle, some are just for humans while your dog looks on and looked after by a volunteer!"

Battersea welcomed their first stray dog in 1860 and ever since have been continuing to place animals at the centre of everything we do.

More than three million animals later, the charity are still working tirelessly to achieve their vision that every dog and cat should live in a home where they are treated with love, care and respect.

By taking part, you’ll be helping them provide love and care for the thousands of lost, abandoned and unwanted dogs and cats that come into their care.

The course is located just 15 miles south from Manchester City centre in the beautiful showgrounds of Ashley Hall in Altrincham, on September 25 between 10am and 4pm.

All those participating will get a Muddy Dog Challenge t-shirt and a bandana for your dog to wear on the day.

Once completed, you’ll be awarded a medal, and your dog will get a rosette to wear with style.

First aid and veterinary cover will also be available on the day.

In their last event, in 2019, more than 8,200 runners and their dogs took part in Muddy Dog Challenges across the country to raise money for Battersea.

The charity asks each participant to give themselves a target of £100 to fundraise although there is no target for children.

Adult participants must be aged 18 years or above on event day, and any children aged 8–17 must be accompanied by an adult also taking part.
