'Take Emery' 'Big club mentality' - Arsenal fans react as Bayern Munich and Niko Kovac part ways

Niko Kovac has officially left his role as Bayern Munich manager after a 5-1 loss against Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday.

The 48-year-old had been under pressure for some time after joining the Bundesliga giants in the summer of 2018.

The former Croatia midfielder left the German side to their seventh consecutive league title in the 2018/19 season as well as the DFB-Pokal Cup, but saw his time at the Allianz Arena run out after a poor run of form.

With just five wins from their opening 10 games, Bayern sit fourth in the table following a 5-1 demolition away to Eintracht Frankfurt this week.

Bayern still sit top of their Champions League group, with three wins so far including the 7-2 victory away at Spurs in October.

To many, it came as a surprise that Bayern were willing to part company with their manager so early into the season, with less than a third of the Bundesliga season gone and his side only four points off the top spot.

However, Bayern CEO Karl-Heinze Rummenigge insisted that performances and results recently convinced them to take action.

"The performance of our team in recent weeks and the results have shown us that there was need for action," Rummenigge said in a statement.

"Uli Hoeness, Hasan Salihamidzic and I had an open and serious conversation with Niko on this basis on Sunday with the consensual result that Niko is no longer coach of FC Bayern."
