If you’ve always dreamed of venturing into space , now is your chance - at least virtually.
NASA has created a stunning new immersive visualisation that lets you explore the Milky Way in 360 degrees.
To create the visualisation, NASA combined supercomputer simulations with data from its Chandra X-ray Observatory.
NASA explained: “It shows the effects of dozens of massive stellar giants with fierce winds blowing off their surfaces in the region a few light years away from the supermassive black hole known as Sagittarius A* (Sgr A* for short).”

To interact with the visualisation in video format, click on it and drag your cursor around. Alternatively you can view it through VR googles for an even more interactive experience.
You should be able to see dense clumps of material streaming towards Sgr A* - these form when winds from massive stars collide.
The blue and cyan colours you see represent X-ray emissions from hot gas, with temperatures of tens of millions of degrees.

Meanwhile, red shows UV emissions from regions of cooler gas, and yellow shows the coolest gases.
Further away you may notice collisions of fast stellar winds - these are thought to provide most of the gas that is seen by Chandra.
