Take a look inside Eccles' new Lidl supermarket

Greater Manchester's newest supermarket opened its doors for the first time today (September 9).

Lidl has opened a new store on the West One Retail Park in Eccles, with the first customers coming through the door at 8am.

The company says its new 1,406sqm supermarket will create up to 40 jobs for the community.

Part of Lidl's £1.3 billion expansion and regeneration plans for Great Britain in 2021 and 2022, the new supermarket includes an in-store bakery, customer toilet and ample parking for both cars and bicycles.

Nick Harvey, Lidl GB’s regional head of property, said: “It is fantastic that we are able to open our doors and welcome local residents into our new store at West One Retail park in Eccles.

"We would like to thank everyone who has played a part in delivering this store and we look forward to serving our multi-award-winning products to the local community.”

Surplus food from the store will go back to community groups (Lidl GB)

Lidl is promising that its new store will be giving something back to the community, as part of its Feed it Back scheme.

Surplus produce will go to charities including Manchester City Mission, KSLC CIC community group in Swinton and RCCG City Of Praise in Little Hulton - which all provide welfare and support in their communities.

During the first week of opening, customers will be able to find exclusive deals and offers on selected products including a £39.99 professional stand mixer, a £9.99 colour changing glass kettle and a £7.99 Slime Station toy.

The new store is open from 8am to 10pm, Monday to Saturday, and from 11am to 5pm on Sundays.
