A north London flat has sold for £306,000 at auction, despite an unusual layout which gives new meaning to the phrase ascending the throne.
The one-bedroom property in fashionable Stoke Newington was snapped up by an investor for £31,000 more than its guide price of £275,000. While there is nothing remarkable about the open-plan living area or bedroom, the bathroom is set up with the toilet at the top of a flight of stairs.
Andrew Binstock, director and auctioneer at the Auction House London, which sold the flat, said: “It falls into the middle of the Venn diagram that London investors look for – under £500,000 and in a sought after location.
“There is an insatiable appetite for this type of stock at present and we could sell flats like this several times over.”
The property was previously let for £1,400 a month, so the landlord is likely to be flush with cash.
