Take a look at the giant Lego animals in Knowsley Safari's summer trail

Giant Lego animals made from a million bricks have arrived at Knowsley Safari for the .

The Ultimate Brick Safari features more than 80 animals including Tenzin the Tiger, a towering Bengal tiger made from around 85,000 bricks, and Earl Grey the Elephant, who took a team of six builders more than nine weeks to create using more than 270,000 bricks.

There's everything from a meerkat family and panda cubs, to hyenas, a gorilla and even Lego bats dangling in the trees.

Families can search for the animals along the attraction's Foot Safari, answering questions on a trail map as you make your way round.

The Brick Safari officially opened on Saturday, July 20, and the M.E.N's Manchester Family was able to take a sneaky peek.

It's unlikely you'll see all 80 on your trip and you don't need to find them all to complete the trail questions, as they're based on the bigger animals, like the tiger and gorilla, which are harder to miss.

The collection of models has taken more than 6,200 hours to build and is on display until September 2 so there's plenty of time to catch it over the summer.

And there's all the usual fun to enjoy too, including the Safari itself, which you can either drive through or buy a ticket for the Baboon Bus to take you round.

Sea lion displays take place three times a day, there's a birds of prey show and a bat forest, as well as the Tiger Trail, a unique 10,000 square metre natural habitat that’s home to Amur tiger sisters Bira and Sinda.

Rachel Scott, head of marketing at Knowsley Safari, said: “We wanted to do something extra special for the summer holidays to help parents entertain the kids on days out. The Ultimate Brick Safari was a natural choice.

"This exhibition captures the imagination of children and parents alike, and the sculptures are a fantastic talking point to learn more about wildlife. The models look brilliant and I’m sure they’ll be the focus for many school holiday selfies."

The Lego models are included in the usual ticket prices - £17.50 adults, £13.50 children, under threes free. Visit the website here to book.
