Take a look at Raptor Safari, the torchlight dinosaur adventure park near Manchester

Families have been flocking to a new dinosaur experience that's opened near Manchester.

We reported last week how Raptor Safari has opened, offering small groups a torchlight safari in the dark.

It first arrived here in the summer in a wild wood close to Manchester Airport , but was forced to shut earlier than planned after the site was hit by floods and vandalism.

Now it's back and even bigger and we've been taking a look at the dinosaurs that have descended on the new weather-proof site in Wilmslow.

Our photographer captured a snapshot of the experience, which features gigantic moving dinosaurs, including a T-Rex and Velociraptor complete with sound effects, alongside other animals.

But head ranger Jon Fieldhouse says the walking foot tour, which lasts around 30 minutes, needs to be seen to be believed and is even more exciting because it's done in the dark.

There are two time slots to choose from, an earlier one for younger children and a later one for those wanting 'the full scare effect'.

Jon said: "As far as I know, a torchlight safari like this has never been done before, so it will be a very unique and exclusive experience - just the job for half term and Halloween.

"The dinosaurs lurk amongst the evergreen trees all through the autumn and winter months."

Trips cost £40 for a group of up to eight people and are running between now and November 3, on Friday evenings, at weekends and over half term.

You can book a slot at either 5pm to 7pm or 7pm to 9pm on Fridays and Saturdays and either 4pm to 6pm, or 6pm to 8pm on Sundays.

Tours can be tailored to the requirements of the individual family groups - 'from mildly spooky for the young kids, to totally terrifying for the older kids and grown ups'.

Visit the website to fill in the booking form, or you can call 07709 275441 or email raptorsafari@yahoo.com.
