Take a look around Namaste as luxury Indian restaurant and prosecco lounge opens in Gateshead

We all love a curry and you can now enjoy one in sumptuous surroundings with the opening of a new luxury Indian restaurant in Gateshead.

Namaste, which opened its doors on Wednesday night on Streetgate in Sunniside , arrives on Tyneside with a glowing reputation, with the team behind it having won awards for their first restaurant in South Shields.

That means that expectations are high for their new venture, in the premises formerly known as the The Marquis of Granby, and judging by the video above and the gallery of pictures below, it certainly looks the part.

And it gets better because as well as serving up authentic Indian cuisine in the restaurant, Namaste is also home to its own fizz palace, with Club Prosecco Lounge right next door.

Back to the food and Namaste's menu offers plenty of food for thought.  Its four course set menu - availabkle from 6 - 8pm Monday to Sunday - costs £14.95 and lets you pick starters like chicken tikka, onion bhaji, pakura and bhuna prawn on puri; a wide range of mains including chicken tikka, lamb, prawn or vegatable done to your preferred taste with korma, rogan, balti, madras and vindaloo all on there; basmati or pilau rice and a naan bread.

And on top of all of that, you just need to pay £1 to have a dessert - if you've got any room left!

The exact same menu is available as a lunchtime offer from Sunday to Thursday (12 - 2pm).

Club Prosecco Lounge has some thirst quenching deals available if you just fancy heading there for a night out with house spirits, glasses of wine, glasses of prosecco and frozen cocktails all included.

Namaste's owners told Chronicle Live: "Whether it is our live music, phenomenal food or classy cocktails; you know that you can always have a brilliant night away from it all."
