The Marymead Auxiliary has provided invaluable fundraising support to Marymead for almost 60 years - and this year was a record-making year for the team of volunteers.

The auxiliary this month donated a cheque to Marymead for $117,900, its largest, annual contribution, trumping a then record amount of $90,000 in 2021.

And the fundraising has all been done the grassroots ways with garage and plant sales; card and games days, as well as the Government House spring morning tea. And all against the difficult times of COVID, when few events could be held.

Marymead is a Canberra icon, supporting children, young people and their families since 1967.

Its director of communications, fundraising and partnerships, Jaclyn Callaghan, praised the efforts of the auxiliary, which had pivoted to try new events such as online raffles and auctions. It also secured the ongoing support of local auction house ALLBIDS.

"While the past few years have limited some in-person event opportunities, the auxiliary have not been deterred and have established new initiatives to continue supporting those most in need," she said.

"Thank you to the Canberra community members who donate, volunteer and support the ongoing efforts of the auxiliary. This donation would not be possible without you."

And you can still support the Marymead Auxiliary by buying a ticket in its latest Easter raffle here

Or by attending one of its upcoming events, including the autumn garage and plant sale on Saturday, April 30. The full rundown of events is here
