'Take a ball on him' Devastated family's emotional tribute at Scots beach after losing dog to cancer

A devastated Scots family are paying tribute to their tragic dog by putting out a bucket of free balls for other pets.

Kerry Grace, 35, and husband Tom, 40, from West Kilbride made the emotional gesture this morning as they grieve their dog Kaiser.

The 12-year-old American Cocker Spaniel had to be put down on Wednesday after vets discovered a cancerous lump in his leg.

Kerry and Tom along with their seven-year-old son vowed never to forget him.

They decided to put out a bucket at his favourite spot at Seamill beach in his memory for other animals to enjoy.

A note on the bucket reads: “In memory of Kaiser who loved this beach 2008 - 2021.

“Please take a ball on him.”

Kerry told the Daily Record: “It is a little memorial for him, it was my husband's idea.

“He would have been 13 next month, we are all really heartbroken.

“Kaiser was a good dog. I got him from a friend when he was just a puppy.

“Doctors noticed a lump in his leg a couple weeks ago but he just deteriorated so fast and we lost him on Wednesday.

“I was allowed to go in and be with him for that.

“We decided to put the bucket out this morning and have since seen people post about it and use it which makes us feel really good, that’s brilliant.

“We just want to remember him and have a nice memorial spot for him that hopefully others can enjoy.”

On social media dog lovers were blown away by the kind gesture.
