
Sekiwake Takakeisho, who is aiming to regain the rank of ozeki, suffered his first loss on the sixth day of the Autumn Grand Sumo Tournament on Friday at Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo.
Takakeisho (5-1) tried to pull down komusubi Endo (5-1) while taking a step backward, but the sekiwake lost his balance and fell on one knee in the ring.
Sekiwake Mitakeumi easily pushed out No. 1 maegashira Hokutofuji to grab his fifth consecutive win after losing on the first day.
No. 8 maegashira Okinoumi kept a clean slate at 6-0 to become the sole leader of the tournament by pushing out No. 6 maegashira Shimanoumi (2-4).
Meanwhile, yokozuma Kakuryu (4-2) was forced out by No. 3 maegashira Daieisho (2-4), giving Daieisho his first kinboshi win over a yokozuna.
