TAIPEI -- Taiwan's foreign ministry has expressed deep thanks for the first-ever mention of Taiwan in the declaration of a Group of Seven summit.
In a press release issued Sunday, the foreign ministry said the G7 leaders showed by their concrete actions that they value peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait.
It also stressed that Taiwan will strengthen its cooperation on global supply chains with other countries that hold similar values, to jointly protect peace, stability and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region.
Taiwan is believed to have in mind, among other things, cooperation over semiconductor production, which is of great interest to the G7.
