Tainted Grail The Fall of Avalon: Should you kill Galahad or One Eye?

Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon is a narratively driven game that offers players choices on how they wish to see the story unfold. One of the most difficult choices include the characters Galahad and One-eye.

This guide will help you make an informed decision.

The decision of whether to kill Galahad or One-Eye takes place during the quest Shadows of the Horns. You’ll be tasked to go to the Abandoned Stronghold, and Brened tells you to Kill Galahad.

Once you get there, show the guard your pin and head inside, where you’ll find Galahad. He’ll ask about the pin, to which you should respond by saying, “I found it.” If you choose any other dialogue during your conversation with Galahad, it may lead him to become immediately hostile, leading to a fight. If this happens, you will be forced to kill Galahad, and you won’t be able to kill One-Eye.

If you decide to fight and kill Galahad, you should choose between these two dialogue options:

  • The Captain of the Horns of the South asked me to kill you. He allied Himself with One-Eye.
  • I came here to kill you.

Choosing any of these dialogue choices and not backing out will lead to a fight against Galahad. As he’s a very strong knight, it’s advised that you are at a sufficient level to fight him and that you’ve come prepared with useful items and consumables. After you’ve successfully killed Galahad, you’ll then need to fight all the guards in the stronghold to escape.

Deciding to kill Galahad contributes to the grander quest of reuniting the Kingdom and rebuilding Kamelot. You’ll also gain access to Sewal’s Crypt in Sunken Village, which holds some important secrets. The tribes will work with the Keepers to gain independence, and there will finally be peace in the South.

You will also learn more about Arthur, Merlin, and the secrets of the Knights of the Roundtable. Lastly, killing Galhad allows you to gain his Mace as a new weapon. Essentially, if you want to learn more about the lore of Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon, killing Galahad is advised.

The second option is to spare Galahad and join sides with him. To do this, choose the very first dialogue option when you meet Galahad, explaining how you’ve been sent to kill him. Then, select the dialogue option  “But I don’t want to kill you.” This will lead Galahad to propose that you and he fight the Dal Riata together. Doing this will immediately fail the quest and begin a new one. The  All-Mother’s Temple will be raided by Galahad and his troops, and he’ll kill everyone in the temple, including the characters Breandan and One-Eye.

What happens if you kill Captain Breandan and One-Eye?

Choosing to side with Galahad obviously means the secrets hidden in Sewal’s Crypt will remain hidden, the tribes and the Kingdom will not be united, and there will be no peace in the south. However, you will gain an ally in Galahad, and the Traditionalists will support you. Ultimately, siding with Galahad will also aid your progress in finding Excalibur later in the story.

Compared to killing Galahad, there are notably not many benefits to siding with him. However, your decision will affect the game’s ending regardless.

It’s important to allow key characters like Galahad and One-Eye to complete their dialogues before engaging in combat. Killing them before doing this can disrupt the main questline, potentially preventing progression and access to essential items.
