Tahith Chong says he has been 'amazed' by the level of faith that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has placed in Manchester United's academy products during his three-and-a-half-month tenure at the club.
The 19-year-old was handed his first-team debut by Solskjaer as a 62nd-minute substitute in the Reds' 2-0 victory over Reading in the FA Cup third round in January.
Chong has since featured with a cameo in United's 3-2 Premier League win against Southampton at Old Trafford before coming on with the task of finding United's decisive third goal in the Champions League last-16 second leg against Paris Saint-Germain.
The Netherlands under-21 international was joined by fellow academy product Mason Greenwood as a late substitute in Paris, with Marcus Rashford's 93rd-minute penalty securing United's passage to the last eight.
James Garner was handed his United debut away at Crystal Palace, with Angel Gomes also afforded minutes against Huddersfield on Boxing Day, and Chong says he has been taken by Solskjaer's commitment to youth.
Six British players Manchester United should target this summer
"I think, ever since the manager came in, he has given me my debut and others have had theirs too," Chong told manutd.com.
"I think nine players that have come through the academy have now appeared under him now so it’s amazing to see the trust both him and the club are willing to put in youth.
"Just to be on the pitch [against PSG] and, with Mason [Greenwood] coming on as well, we still speak about it and can’t believe that we came on in an actual game like that. Even Jimmy [Garner] and Angel [Gomes] on the bench experienced it as well.
"In the changing room, everyone was buzzing straight after the game. Just to accomplish that, when no-one expected us to go through, was just amazing. Really amazing."
