Tahith Chong breaks silence on Manchester United contract situation

Tahith Chong says he is in no rush to commit his future to Manchester United, as negotiations continue over a new contract.

The young winger, 19, currently on international duty with Netherlands U21s, has been promoted to the United first team set up this season, after making his debut last term.

Chong currently has four first team appearances this season, but is yet to feature in the opening four games of the new campaign. Instead, he has returned to the U23s where he has two goals in three games.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has high hopes for the exciting winger, shown by his inclusion in the pre-season tour over the summer. And now Chong has confirmed that contract negotiations are ongoing about extending his stay at Old Trafford.

"Of course we are talking," he told Voetbal Primeur. "But it is still too early to say anything about it."

But Chong spoke of his happiness at being at United, and simply insisted that his focus is on playing under Solskjaer this season, hinting that he expects to feature as the season progresses.

He continued: "The season is still long and we will see what happens. There are a lot of competitions coming up and I will focus on that."

Netherlands U21s face Cyprus on Tuesday in Euro U21 qualifying.
