Tadhg Furlong and Garry Ringrose battling to be fit ahead of Leinster's Champions Cup start

Tadhg Furlong remains sidelined with a calf injury as Leinster's Champions Cup start looms ever closer.

The Ireland prop hasn't played since rugby's lockdown ended due to a back injury first and then the current calf issue that has kept him out of action.

Leinster's bid for a perfect start to the PRO14 season continues this week with the trip to Scarlets on Sunday.

Backs Rory O'Loughlin (shoulder), Jimmy O'Brien (back) and Conor O'Brien, who is close to a return from a hamstring injury, will be assessed before a decision is made on their availability.

There is no further update on the fitness of Garry Ringrose, who is hopeful of a return in time for the Champions Cup opener at the start of next month.

Ringrose suffered a fractured jaw against Italy in the Six Nations.
