American fast food giant Taco Bell is planning to set up shop in the Hunter.
The Mexican-inspired fast food chain recently lodged a development application with City of Newcastle for an outlet in Stockland Jesmond.
The Taco Bell Australia twitter account confirmed the development in a tweet on Wednesday, saying: "Our (takeaway) bags are packed and we're on the road to #NewSouthWales. Destination: Western Sydney AND Newcastle #tacobellNSW #tacobelldownunder."

Taco Bell restaurants originated in Southern California in the early 1960s and there are more than 7000 of them around the world today.
But surprisingly, Taco Bell does not have a footprint in NSW.
The Newcastle and Western Sydney stores will be the first in NSW in more than a decade.
The chain is part of the Yum! Brands corporation that includes KFC.
No word on an opening date just yet.

Yes, you read that right, KFC Weddings - a new service for nuptials that guarantees to be finger lickin' good (just make sure you take off the rings beforehand).
In a truly bizarre scenario, the KFC Weddings service was unveiled to future Aussie brides and grooms via a double page spread in fashion magazine Harper's BAZAAR.
Fried chicken fanatics will now have the chance to 'put a wing on it' and win one of six KFC-themed weddings.
Winners will receive a wedding complete with a KFC food truck, themed celebrant, a KFC photo booth to capture the happy memories, custom KFC buckets and musical entertainment.
All applicants have to do is head to the KFC website and explain in 200 words or less why they want a KFC Wedding.
Winners will be judged on their originality, creative merit and independent expression shared in the entry. Weddings will be held from October to May.
"KFC is all about living your best life and we were flattered that so many of our fans are showing that Aussie larrikin spirit by asking us to be a part of their big day," KFC managing director Nikki Lawson said.
Buoy bobs up in Belmont
Topics spy Rachelle Schmidt Adnum was walking along the edge of Lake Macquarie at Belmont earlier this week when she came upon what appeared to be a buoy that had come aground.
It turned out to be a shallow water marker that had broken lose and drifted about 200 metres to the shoreline.
The adrift water marker was not far from Squids Ink Motel.
