Donald Trump might be a wealthy man but you can’t buy taste apparently. The president recently blew millions on adorning his Oval Office with golden embellishments and the worst part is they don’t even look good according to the internet.
Trump has been making a few changes to the White House recently and is even talking about spending an incredible $200 million to add a 90,000 square foot ballroom in the East Wing with works set to begin as early as next month. Considering how the president has thus far prioritized reducing spending across government departments and even cut access to healthcare for millions of Americans it seems very hypocritical to spend such a ludicrous amount on something so unnecessary.
But that’s not the only problem people have with Trump’s plans. From what we’ve seen so far his taste in interior design leaves a lot to be desired, meaning not only will whoever occupies the White House next be left with a ballroom they’re not likely to use, but it’s going to be ugly as sin too.
Donald Trump‘s interior decorations look cheap and ugly
Trump has been prioritizing his redecorating for a while now. We recently got a taste of what the whole White House could soon look like as images of the Oval Office appeared online. In the pictures we can see an abundance of gold has been added to almost every surface. The design choice is being torn to shreds on X by people who have taken a closer look at some of the decorations chosen by the leader of the free world.

One person pointed out that some of the golden sculptures lack detail and look more like blobs of gold suggesting that they may be an imitation.
the lack of crispness in the detailing of this is so funny to me. truly Temu level shit pic.twitter.com/sTIOdzaG8Z

It looks like something you’d order off of Temu.
The desired aesthetic was no doubt intended to reflect the elegance and power Trump thinks he has but hilariously the actual outcome is somewhat closer to the reality of Trump: it is cheap, tasteless, and fake.

This is exactly the sort of thing you would come to expect of Trump. The president strikes me as the type of man to value material things without paying attention to the actual art that goes into making them. That is why he’s filled his office with gold, not because he thinks it looks good, but rather because the wealth makes him feel good.
The reality is that this is perhaps the ugliest the Oval Office has ever looked, it’s a crime against interior design and he’s going to be committing even more of said crime later this year as work begins on the rest of the White House. I dread to think how garish that ballroom is going to look when it’s finally finished.
