T20 World Cup: Which team has used its squad the best so far?

NEW DELHI: The ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia has now entered the business end of the Super 12 stage. And the exciting part of this intensely fought tournament is that all the four semi-final spots are still vacant with just one game each remaining for the teams.

Four teams each are still in the reckoning for the knock-out stage in both the groups – New Zealand, England, Australia and Sri Lanka in Group 1, and India, South Africa, Pakistan and Bangladesh in Group 2. The final round of matches will determine not only the teams in the last four stages but also who plays whom in it.

The teams entered the tournament with a set of 15-member squads, in some cases with few standbys, with an aim to extract the best from them and progress further in the tournament, and eventually to try and lift the coveted trophy.

Here, TimesofIndia.com examines how the teams have utilised their respective squads so far and how their players have performed in the Super 12 stage:

(All statistics in this article are updated till the end of the November 3 match)

The only team with three wins so far in the Super 12, India are on the verge of booking their spot in the knock-out stage of the tournament. The 2007 champions have used 12 players in four games, giving one game to Deepak Hooda in place of Axar Patel against South Africa. They are mostly sticking with a set playing XI -- five batters, three all-rounders (Hardik, Ashwin and Axar) and three specialist fast bowlers. It has provided India depth in both the departments - batting and bowling.

They are still looking to seal a spot in the semi-finals with a big win against Sri Lanka in their final game on Saturday. They have played an unchanged side in all their games so far, which has had as many as five all-rounders. They have immense depth in both batting and bowling departments -- batters till No. 9 and seven bowling options.
