NEW DELHI: A Surat-based company, Praveen Overseas, has crafted the national flags of 20 countries participating in the ICC T20 World Cup using plastic waste. These flags are touted as the largest in the world, each measuring 35 meters by 20 meters.
Praveen Gupta, the company owner, revealed that these flags are unique due to their construction from polyester fabric and recycled yarn, which is made from garbage and plastic bottles. This innovative approach aims to showcase India's commitment to sustainability. The yarn was supplied by Ganesh Group, which specializes in recycling waste materials.

A total of 20 flags were produced for the tournament, hosted by the US and the West Indies, with each flag requiring 500 meters of cloth and weighing approximately 150 kg. The combined weight of all the flags is 3500 kg.
The production process, adhering to the specifications of each country's flag, involved 600 workers and took 24 hours to complete one flag. To handle these massive flags, about 54 people are needed to lift one.
In summary, the flags made in Surat for the T20 World Cup highlight India's innovative use of recycled materials, with the goal of presenting the world with a unique and environmentally conscious product.
