T20 World Cup: Bangladesh batter narrowly escapes face injury as ball gets stuck in helmet visor. Watch

NEW DELHI: In a rare occurrence, Bangladesh opener Tanzid Hasan saw the ball getting stuck in his helmet visor as he narrowly escaped a nasty face injury during the T20 World Cup clash against Netherlands in Kingstown on Thursday.

Looking to pull a Vivian Kingma bouncer, Hasan missed his shot as the ball struck flush onto his helmet.

The incident occurred in the third over of the Bangladesh innings as Kingma fired in a 133.5kph bouncer. Looking to smack it to the on side, Hasan attempted the pull off the front foot.

The extra bounce on the ball resulted in Hasan missing his shot and only managed a faint top-edge. The ball then crashed into his helmet and got stuck.

Hasan, who seemingly looked rattled by the blow, immediately gathered his composure and removed his helmet with the ball still firmly stuck to the grill.

The opener then tapped his helmet on the ground to remove the ball.

The following concussion test from the team physio allowed Hasan to carry on with his innings.

Earlier, Netherlands captain Scott Edwards won the toss and opted to bowl first in the Group D clash.

The start was delayed by 15 minutes after a light flurry of rain swept across the ground shortly before the start.

Both sides are pressing to join South Africa in the Super 8 having already won one of their two previous group matches.
