T.N. NEET exemption Bill within ambit of Constitution, says Thol. Thirumavalavan

Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) founder Thol. Thirumavalavan on Monday said the NEET exemption Bill, re-adopted by the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly recently, is not against the tenets of Constitution of India as education is a part of concurrent list and both the Centre and State could pass laws on it.

Mr. Thirumavalavan felt attempts to paint the NEET exemption Bill as against the Constitution are “defamatory.”

“The President can provide his assent to Bill passed by Centre and State governments. To state that the NEET exemption Bill goes against the Constitution of India is either a planned exercise to spread lies or is being said without proper understanding of Constitution,” he contended.

Mr. Thirumavalavan claimed that Tamil Nadu BJP president Annamalai is merely trying to make defamatory statements to make sure that the media spotlight stays on him.

According to him, all sections of the people are angry against the Central government as it is unable to control the rise in prices and reduce unemployment in its second term. “They are creating caste and religious divisions in the society and spreading hate to benefit electorally,” he claimed. “These are achievements of the Central government. In the next Lok Sabha elections, people will teach them a lesson,” he said.
