A familiar face showed up at Monday’s OTA session in Allen Park, though in a different capacity than Lions fans and coaches are used to seeing him. T.J. Lang dropped in on the first practice of the week as a special guest of coach Matt Patricia.
Coach Patricia said in his Tuesday press conference that Lang texted him to see if he would be welcome to drop in. Patricia declared the two have a “great relationship” and it was great to have the recently retired right guard with the team for the day. Lang continues to make his home in the Detroit area.
There is nothing more involved beyond that. Lang is not coming back to the active roster or joining the coaching staff. He might be back as a guest more frequently, Patricia intimated.
