T in the Park gone for good: A look back at some of the huge names to have performed at the festival

Festival bosses have confirmed that T in the Park is likely gone for good – signalling the end of an era.

For two decades the hugely popular festival has been a key part of the Scottish music scene, with some of the biggest acts on the planet rocking up at Balado.

The likes of Jay Z, Coldplay, The Who and Beyonce performed at there down the years.

However the festival was cancelled in 2016 with organisers saying they were "taking a break" from it and going on to launch TRNSMT.

And they have now confirmed that "it has ran it's course".

Geoff Ellis told Newsbeat that "everyone loved T and we all had great fun doing it" however "it's all about TRNSMT for us now".

He added: "Things move on and we keep creating.

"The festival scene's really, really healthy these days and it's great to still be amongst it."

The first ever T in the Park was held at Strathclyde Park near Hamilton in 1994 before it moved to Balado near Fife. After the best part of two decades there they shifted to Strathallan Castle in 2015 but this event was hit by traffic problems.
