Syrian Defense Minister Ali Ayoub has reportedly visited al-Mataar neighborhood of Daraa al-Mahatta to meet with the security committee of President Bashar Assad’s regime.

On Monday, a Russian delegation entered Daraa al-Balad in order to meet with the central committees for resuming talks after they completed negotiations with the regime following the meeting with a high-ranking military figure, believed to be the Syrian regime defense minister, and some representatives of the area under Russian supervision.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported that heavy gunfire was heard in the area on Monday evening, following the departure of the Russian delegation.

Activists reported that a vehicle carrying food entered the farms area west of Silwa Gharz, where civilians have been trapped since the start of the clashes there. The car could access the region after a mediation by the Eighth Brigade through an Air Force Intelligence checkpoint.

SOHR said that the forces of the pro-Russian eighth brigade entered the Shiyah area in the city of Daraa, to evacuate families stranded since the outbreak of clashes a few days ago, as more than 70 families were evacuated until Monday.

SOHR activists have reported the displacement of thousands of civilians from Daraa al-Balad, Daraa al-Mahatta to surrounding villages. Daraa city hosts nearly 45,000 people who have been under a tight siege by regime forces for more than a week.

Meanwhile, a prominent military figure of the Syrian regime, believed to be the defense minister, arrived in al-Mataar neighborhood in Daraa province, to meet with the central committee, SOHR reported.

The new developments came amid cautious calm across Daraa. The regime forces and the fourth Division had attacked the city on pretext of deporting two persons.
