The rebel-held region of Eastern Ghouta is under ongoing, heavy bombardment by Russian and Syrian forces. The Kremlin denies any involvement. Almost 300 people have been killed in the past four days, including 40 on Wednesday. It is the highest casualty count in the area since a chemical attack in 2013.
