Syria: 800,000 displaced face desperate conditions in camps

A military offensive on the last rebel-held region in northwestern Syria is causing the largest single displacement of people since the conflict began nine years ago.

At least 800,000 people have fled the fighting since the start of December.

They are stranded in areas near the border with Turkey, suffering in cold temperatures in overcrowded camps.

Al Jazeera's Hashem Ahelbarra reports from Hatay near the Turkey-Syria border.
