Ros Asquith’s cartoons in the Education Guardian are charming and witty. But have you noticed that female teachers are always addressed as “miss” whereas male teachers are “sir”? Women teachers achieved equal pay more than 50 years ago. High time they achieved equal respect.

• Joni Mitchell would surely give short shrift to any “obsessiveness of the male fanbase” (It’s not always easy to be a Joni Mitchell fan, but her illness devastates me, 4 March). I was pleased however to see Linda Grant ask where the “dry, 1,000-page volumes of musical Joni-trivia, the conferences, the PhD dissertations” are, because a one-day symposium on Mitchell’s music and influence entitled Court and Spark is taking place at the University of Lincoln on 3 July. This male obsessive will be there and it would be nice if Grant could make it too. And even nicer if Joni is still around to completely ignore us – whatever we might think of her, or her music, she owes us nothing.

• When does the seduction aspect of packaging become deception? The Easter egg I was given was in a box measuring 27cm x 17cm x 11cm, ie just over 5 litres. The volume of chocolate in the (hollow) egg and (solid) chocolates was 155cl. The actual edible content was therefore only fractionally more than 3% of the total package.
