A Sydney woman can be extradited to Chile over the alleged kidnapping of seven people during the military dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet, a magistrate has ruled.
Adriana Rivas, 67, has been in custody since her arrest by NSW police in February 2019 following a request from Chile for her extradition.
In Sydney's Central Local Court on Thursday, magistrate Philip Stewart dismissed her legal teams's objections and ruled that she was eligible for extradition.
She has 15 days to seek a review of the decision.
Rivas is accused of being a former operative for Chile's police and being involved in the disappearance of seven people, including a woman who was five months' pregnant, in the 1970s.
She immigrated to Australia in the late 1970s and worked as a nanny.
The Chilean government alleges she was part of a DINA brigade that physically and psychologically tortured members of the communist party who opposed Pinochet's regime.
