Sydney to Hobart race: Group of nudists rescues family stuck at sea

Nudists have rescued a group of sailors after their small boat got caught up in strong currents in Sydney.

The group were watching the annual Sydney to Hobart race when they found themselves struggling to keep control of their boat.

Spotting the sailors in trouble, a group of nudists and other eyewitnesses on Lady Bay Beach set off to rescue the group.

“The boat came angling into the shore, which was a bit weird,” Chris Pearce, a Getty agency photographer who photographed the rescue mission, told The Telegraph.

“I thought maybe they were dropping something off.

"But then a guy with a kid started screaming at the people on the shore, saying expletives, 'come help, come help'.

"You could see a fair bit of water on the boat.”

The nudists rescued the woman and child on the boat before pulling the boat ashore.

The incident was witnessed by hundreds of spectators.
