Sydney Sweeney's Horror Debut Film 'Immaculate' Set For March Release

Hunter Schafer's Horror Film 'Cuckoo' Set To Premiere At Berlin Film Festival

During the airing of season two of Euphoria in early 2022, social media was abuzz with memes featuring Sydney Sweeney's expressive acting, prompting calls for her to star in a horror movie. Little did fans know, Sweeney was already working on such a project, her latest film, Immaculate.

Reflecting on the enthusiastic reactions to Euphoria and the demand for a horror film, Sweeney expressed her excitement at finally unveiling Immaculate, a project she had held onto for quite some time. The film, which she stars in and produces, had its premiere at Beyond Fest in Los Angeles.

Immaculate is not the first film Sweeney has produced, following her success with the rom-com Anyone But You. Drawing inspiration from industry figures like Margot Robbie and Brad Pitt, she aims to produce projects that offer unique storytelling opportunities.

The film follows Sweeney as an American nun who uncovers dark secrets at an Italian convent, reuniting her with director Michael Mohan, with whom she had previously collaborated on projects like Everything Sucks and The Voyeurs.

Mohan's involvement in Immaculate led to significant script changes, particularly in crafting what he believes to be a uniquely disturbing ending for a mainstream horror film. The director's confidence in the film's impact on Sweeney's fans is unwavering, assuring that it will meet expectations.

Immaculate, set to release on March 22, also features Simona Tabasco from The White Lotus. The film promises to deliver a chilling experience that will captivate audiences and showcase Sweeney's versatility as an actress and producer.
