Sydney Sweeney just took a lie detector test and the machine confirmed an awful truth about her life

It turns out celebrity life isn’t all sunshine and rainbows, especially when algorithms get involved, because Sydney Sweeney just revealed a truly awful truth about her TikTok feed that was confirmed by a lie detector machine. The actress, who was hooked up to a polygraph, confirmed that when she checks her public account, all she sees are videos of people hating on her.

Sweeney made the forlorn comments while promoting her new film, The Housemaid, alongside co-star Amanda Seyfried. The two stopped by Vanity Fair to participate in a lie-detector interview, where they took turns asking each other tough questions while connected to the machine. It was during this conversation that the topic of social media came up, revealing a really disheartening side effect of fame.

You’d think someone as popular as Sweeney would have a feed full of supportive fans and fun content, but that’s absolutely not the case. She’s getting hate over many different things. Sweeney explained that when she uses her private TikTok account, her For You page is primarily filled with positive, educational content like “history facts and arts & crafts.” That sounds like a great feed, honestly.

People hate celebrities with ease, and it goes too far

However, the situation drastically changes when she logs into her public profile, Syd’s Garage. She stated that what she primarily sees there is “sadly a lot of hate about me.” As someone who moderated TikTok videos, I would like to clear some misconceptions up.

The algorithm is not designed to just feed you the worst content, as I keep seeing people claim. The only thing you’re seeing is what is getting attention, and the algorithm can’t tell what is negative or positive; it’s a computer. It works with numbers. If anything, this is the fault of the people who keep sharing and giving these negative videos so much attention. It really isn’t a case of social media purposefully feeding you negative content; it is people only wanting negative content and helping it rise to the top.

That has to be mentally exhausting for her, since she keeps getting accused of many things. This promotional tour is all about The Housemaid, which is set to hit movie theaters in the United States on Thursday, December 25. The thriller is an adaptation of the best-selling 2022 novel written by Freida McFadden.

We’re talking about a big-name project here, directed by Paul Feig, who is known for hits like Bridesmaids and The Heat. Sweeney and Seyfried are starring alongside a great cast that includes Brandon Sklenar, Michele Morrone, and Elizabeth Perkins.

The success of this film is actually a really big deal for Sweeney’s career trajectory. Early box office reports are suggesting that The Housemaid could open to an impressive $12 million to $15 million. If that happens, it would be a massive career boost.

It’s just wild to think that someone could be landing major roles and leading huge new movies, while simultaneously having a social media feed that’s actively trying to tear her down.
