Sydney stabbing victim faces charges

Hugo Ball will face Downing Centre Local Court on January 13 over an incident at his father's home. (AAP)

A Sydney man who needed surgery after allegedly being stabbed by his mother is facing property charges following an incident at his father's home.

Hugo Ball was hospitalised in November after being stabbed multiple times at the home her shared with his mother at Bellevue Hill in the city's east.

Police say the 22-year-old has been charged with destroying or damaging property at a home in Paddington over the weekend.

The alleged offences occurred about 9.30am on Sunday, a police spokeswoman told AAP.

Ball's father Ian has applied for an apprehended violence order against his son following the incident.

Both matters are due to be heard at Downing Centre Local Court on January 13.

Ball's mother, Samantha Palmer, 55, has been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm over the domestic violence-related incident at the Bellevue Hill home on November 21.

The 55-year-old was granted bail in December after almost a month in custody. She is due before court on January 21.

Ball has reportedly been living with his father in Paddington since the stabbing.
