Sydney stabber 'tried to murder man'

Police say a 28 year old Granville man was trying to kill a man in a stabbing attack at Sydney unit. (AAP)

A Sydney man was trying to commit a murder when he repeatedly stabbed another man in a flat, police allege.

The 28-year-old Granville man was arrested on Tuesday, two weeks after a younger man was left with critical injuries in a North Parramatta unit.

The alleged stabber was due to face a court on Wednesday afternoon on a charge of causing a wounding to a person with intent to murder.

The injured man needed surgery for stab wounds to his chest, arms and legs after the alleged incident on December 7.

He has since been released from hospital.
