A man has been found guilty of murder after shooting another man in the back while wearing a balaclava at an apartment complex in Sydney's west.

Marko Krivosic, 31, faced a second NSW Supreme Court trial after his first ended with a hung jury.

On Friday after his second jury had been deliberating for two days, he was found guilty of murdering George Nassif 46, in a Warwick Farm unit on July 22, 2018.

The Crown told Krivosic's first trial that he walked into the unlocked complex about 5.10pm and shouted "George, you dog" as he fired at the man and three others watching TV on a lounge.

He then approached the dying man and tried to pistol-whip and kick him as he slid down the sofa, the first trial was told.

As he began to leave he aimed the gun and threatened the others not to say anything.

The convicted murderer's defence told his first jury that the man wearing latex gloves unintentionally fired the gun during a stressful situation.

He claimed he only armed himself and arrived at the unit after hearing his friend was being bashed, wanting to protect him.

The first trial was shown CCTV footage of Krivosic and another man arriving at the unit complex, both wearing the hoods of their hoodies.

Krivosic then unwrapped the gun in the lift, as he donned a balaclava.

Following the shooting Krivosic went on the run, initially paying a nearby resident $250 in cash to be let into their home.

His girlfriend at the time then picked him up before they drove to Newcastle, Melbourne, Port Augusta and eventually Perth, where he was arrested on August 6, 2018.

Justice Peter Johnson thanked his second jury for their efforts and formally discharged them after their verdict was read out.

Krivosic is due to face a sentence hearing on February 18.
