IT has almost been two weeks since the Hunter's last confirmed case of COVID-19, with no new cases recorded in the district on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, a Sydney security guard has been linked to the Marriott quarantine hotel at Circular Quay.
NSW chief health officer, Dr Kerry Chant, said they were still investigating how the previously announced case may have caught COVID-19 at the hotel, but genome sequencing had revealed it was the same strain of virus found in a returned traveller in quarantine at the premises.
The guard had worked at Parramatta Court, Flemington Market and Bankstown Central Shopping Centre while infectious.
NSW Health reported three new cases in the 24 hours to 8pm on Monday across the state. Two were locally acquired, one was a returned traveller.
A NSW Health spokesperson said while daily case numbers were low, there had been 16 cases in the past four weeks where the source of infection could not be identified, indicating COVID-19 was continuing to circulate undetected.
