An aquatic centre in Sydney's south has been evacuated after hydrochloric acid leaked into a spa and injured four people, including a child.
More than 150 people inside Hurstville Aquatic Centre were rushed out of the facility on Monday morning when 70 litres of the acid leaked into a spa area.
It released a vapour cloud in the communal pool area which led to three adults and a child receiving treatment at the scene before being taken to hospital by paramedics.
Fire and Rescue NSW said the leak is believed to be linked to a malfunction within the pool's automated filtration system.
Specialists remain on the scene monitoring air quality inside the centre as the acid vapour clears through natural and fan-driven ventilation.
