The man convicted of the one-punch killing of Sydney teenager Thomas Kelly has allegedly assaulted a fellow inmate in jail.
Kieran Loveridge was sentenced to a minimum 10 years in jail for the manslaughter of the 18-year-old after punching him in the back of the head in Kings Cross in 2012.
Police said Loveridge, 24, has been charged after allegedly punching a 34-year-old inmate in the face at Silverwater Correctional Complex before a brawl broke out on February 26.
"The men were separated by corrective service officers and the older man was taken to the clinic for treatment of facial injuries," a police statement said.
Investigators from Strike Force Raptor, which specialises in investigating NSW's outlaw motorcycle gangs, arrested Loveridge yesterday afternoon and charged him with affray.
He was refused bail to appear at Burwood Local Court today.
He was initially jailed for five years and two months over the attack on Mr Kelly, but the Director of Public Prosecutions appealed the sentence following a public outcry over the unprovoked attack.
