Here's what you need to know this morning.
Captured fugitive to face extradition hearing
Accused drug trafficker Mostafa Baluch is expected to face an extradition hearing on the Gold Coast this morning after his dramatic arrest trying to cross the Queensland border.
Organised crime detectives from New South Wales arrived in Queensland last night and will formally apply for the extradition of Mr Baluch when he appears at Southport Magistrates Court.
A lawyer acting for Mr Baluch yesterday asked for more time to consider the material before the court ahead of the extradition hearing.
Police said the 33-year-old was found hiding in a shipping container on the back of a truck.
He had been on the run for 17 days after allegedly skipping bail by cutting off his ankle monitoring bracelet and fleeing his home on Sydney's northern beaches.
Heavy rain and floods forecast
Authorities are warning torrential rain is expected across parts of NSW throughout this afternoon and evening that could cause dangerous flash flooding.
Areas likely to be the hardest hit includt the state's north, north-west and the central western slopes.
The State Emergency Service has thousands of volunteers on stand-by and has deployed "strike teams" as well as extra resources to those areas in preparation.
SES Acting Assistant Commissioner Colin Malone says the severe storms moving through the state are dumping huge amounts of rain that will cause some rivers to flood.
"That type of rain normally causes flash flooding and that's where we see that real risk of people getting caught, particularly on roads," he said.
"We want people to make smart choices … it's about them coming home".
Dam expected to spill
Large volumes of water have been released from dams across the state ahead of the expected heavy rains.
WaterNSW said that, with all major dams at or near capacity, it has been working to create more storage ahead of a "significant rain event".
"It's unlikely there will be sufficient capacity in those storages to capture all these inflows, so spills are likely," WaterNSW spokesperson Tony Webber said.
He said teams were on standby to deal with flooding, with Keepit Dam on the Namoi River, the Wyangala Dam on the Lachlan River and Burrinjuck Dam on the Murrumbidgee River likely to spill.
Remembrance Day
Poppies have been projected on the sails of the Sydney Opera House to mark Remembrance Day.
The light show was switched on this morning at a dawn service held in honour of all those killed in battle.
An RAAF flypast will take place at 10.30am in the city ahead of a Remembrance Day service at 11:00am AEDT at the Cenotaph in Martin Place.
The service can be live streamed online for those who cannot attend in person.
