A Sydney man has been arrested, taken to a watch house and charged after allegedly refusing to wear a mask at Parliament House.
The 43-year-old tried to enter Parliament House without a mask at about 12.40pm on Wednesday, police said.
He has been charged with trespass and ACT health direction offences.
Residents and visitors to the ACT must wear a mask indoors while around people they do not have regular contact with.
Police said they "spoke at length" with the man and "encouraged [him] to comply" with mask rules and apply for an exemption to be in the ACT, but he chose not to.
He was subsequently arrested and transported to the ACT Watch House, police said.
"ACT Policing is generally pleased with the compliance of ACT residents and visitors with the current health directions," police said in a statement.
"However where blatant or deliberate non-compliance occurs we will not hesitate to act."
The man is scheduled to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court on Thursday.
