AARON Macey, the Sydney connection for a major Hunter drug syndicate, has pleaded guilty to supplying 40 litres of industrial solvent Butanediol, an alternative to party drug Gamma-Hydroxybutyrate (GHB), and nearly 400 grams of cocaine.
Macey, 29, of Rose Bay, was represented by solicitor Kate Maher when he appeared in Newcastle Local Court via audio visual link from jail on Wednesday.
He pleaded guilty to two charges, including supplying a large commercial quantity of a prohibited drug, which carries a maximum penalty of life imprisonment.
He will be sentenced next year. Before his arrest in December last year, Macey was enjoying the best that Sydney's eastern suburbs had to offer. But detectives had been monitoring his involvement in a large-scale drug supply syndicate operating out of Lake Macquarie that allegedly included accused syndicate head Matthew Shane Pearce, a personal trainer with links to the Newcastle Knights, Jarrod Mullen and Les Mason.
