Police are hunting several men who invaded a house party in masks, leaving two teenagers with serious injuries in Sydney's north-west.
Several males, armed with a knife, gun, hammer and an axe, were seen on security camera footage entering a home in Castle Hill just after midnight on Thursday.
The house was a short-term rental accommodation being used by a group of people who were having a party.
Police said the masked men threatened six people inside and an 18-year-old man was stabbed several times in the stomach.
Another 17-year-old male was hit over the head with a hammer in the backyard of the property.
Neighbour Sophie Hyne said she could not sleep after hearing swearing and loud noises coming from the house.
"This is such a quiet street and everyone's really, really friendly, so the fact that that happened in our street is a bit scary," she said.
The two teenagers were taken to Westmead Hospital for treatment early Thursday morning.
Police believe the home invasion is connected to gang activity and the people at the party were likely targeted.
"People across Sydney should be concerned because we believe that there may be a gang link between two gangs from other parts of Sydney," said Detective Inspector Chris Laird.
"We're quite confident they know the attackers."
Several mobile phones and wallets were stolen and the house was "wrecked" before the group fled in an unknown car.
Detective Inspector Laird also noted that the house party broke the current health orders in NSW and should not have happened in the first place.
"The two young blokes didn't deserve to be stabbed, but at the same time, they were given strict warnings overnight that no more than five people are allowed in houses," he said.
"It's just not on. If you don't live in these houses, go home."
