Sydney fans sin-binned and sent home for trying to attend Knights-Warriors Tamworth game

Bye: Sydney fans were sent home from Knights versus Warriors game.

FOUR Sydney-siders who attempted to attend the Knights game in Tamworth on the weekend were sent home due to coronavirus concerns.

Hunter New England Health public health controller Dr David Durrheim said there were still coronavirus cases in Sydney with unknown sources of infection.

While ever people travelled between Sydney and Hunter New England for work, recreation, and social engagements, there was a risk of re-introduction of COVID-19 to the area.

"The highway is open and people do travel," Dr Durrheim said.

"A big shout out to police who sent four people with Sydney driver's IDs home from the game in Tamworth on the weekend.

"There was a check-in process. Wests and the NRL and police made sure everybody who attended the game came from a local address, and there were a number - four - Sydney-siders that attempted to attend.

"They were dispatched home."
