Sydney crime gang figure arrested

A western Sydney crime gang figure has been arrested for an alleged breach of a Serious Crime Prevention Order.

Strike Force Raptor arrested the man on Wednesday at an Auburn home and charged him with two counts of contravening a Serious Crime Prevention Order.

In December the Supreme Court issued a 33-year-old man with a Serious Crime Prevention Order after a spate of public shootings between rival crime gangs in western Sydney.

An SCPO has wide powers to restrict and disrupt the activities and movement of people suspected of being involved in criminal activities.

Police will allege in court the 33-year-old was in contravention of his SCPO as he had failed to provide his correct vehicle information and was in possession of multiple mobile devices.

He was refused bail to appear at Burwood Local Court on Thursday.

Strike Force Raptor was established in 2009 and conducts proactive investigations and intelligence-based, high-impact policing operations to prevent and disrupt conflicts, and dismantle any network engaged in serious organised criminal activity.
